The Eye III E3 Max has a 35mm lens that collects heat radiation. The default field of view on this thermal monocular is 10.5 by 7.9 degrees. It has a 4 times digital zoom to enlarge the image.
Behind the lens of the Eye III E3 Max, you can find the 384 x 288 pixel (uncooled, 12 micrometer) core which refreshes the image at 50 Hz. The thermal contrast (NETD) of this thermal monocular is < 25mK.
The physical dimensions of this thermal monocular indicate 180 x 54 x 54 mm (lwh) and the scale indicates 480 grams. This device is rated IP67. It withstands dust, shocks, water (splash) and submersion under water. It is designed to operate at temperatures between -20°C and 50°C.
The Eye III E3 Max can be used in scanning and surveillance, hunting adventures and police operations.
DRI stands for Detection, Recognition and Identification and is based on the widely used Johnson Criteria.

The Max is identical in construction to the Plus, except for the lens used. A 25mm lens is used in the E3 Plus. In the "Max" model, on the other hand, a 35 mm lens. The 25mm lens is best recommended for shorter distances and mixed areas with forests and frequent feeding distances.
It doesn't have as good imaging performance as the "Max" at the longer distances, but due to the smaller objective lens diameter it has a wider cone of view and lower optical magnification (3.5x). The Max, on the other hand, has a narrow field of view and a large base magnification (5x). It is therefore particularly suitable for long distances (120m+) and terrain areas.
Infiray Outdoor completely repositions itself with the Mate, Affo and Eye III devices. The Eye III Max is probably the manufacturer's largest volume model and therefore features various improvements. The design of the device has been completely revised and with the Eye III models, Infiray finally says goodbye to the "teardrop shape" of the previous devices. The housings are now made of a tube, without conical shapes. The control unit has also been completely redesigned. The Eye III Max is now controlled via a rotary wheel and an additional button. The controls are much more intuitive with this layout, even in total darkness.
In addition to the fundamental innovations in terms of technology and design, InfiRay has brought to the Eye devices some very useful detail improvements:
- Quick charge function - The Eye III Max has a quick charge function, similar to many mobile devices. The thermal camera can be charged to approximately 90% capacity in one hour.
- Magnetic charging cable - The charging cable is fixed by magnetic force. The charging connector is thus better protected against inadvertent connections and disconnections or accidental tearing.
- Microphone for sound during video recording - InfiRay now equips its devices with microphones for the first time. Sound during video recording can be recorded for better atmosphere and commentary.
